Ben Edwards
Senior Advisor
Ben is a Senior Advisor to the Firm with a focus on credit. He is also co-Founder of Black Pearl, established to provide first-class strategic analysis and quantitative support to existing fund management businesses, corporates, and family offices. Additionally, Ben is a co-Founder and now Chairman and Chair of the Investment Committees of Syntaxis Capital, an established European lower mid-market credit fund manager backed by leading global institutional investors. Ben was a member of the Washington DC-based Global Private Capital Association (previously EMPEA), a non-profit, independent membership organization representing private capital investors who manage more than $2 trillion in assets across Asia, Latin America, Africa, Central Europe, and the Middle East.
Active in the European private capital markets for over 37 years, Ben was an original member and Managing Director of MML Capital, the first dedicated European credit fund manager, established in 1988. He was also a Vice President/Executive Director within the Leveraged Finance Group of Goldman Sachs, in New York and London.
Originally from Brazil, Ben has lived and worked in New York, London, and Vienna, and, in addition to his native English, speaks conversational Portuguese and German. Ben is a graduate of St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University.
